Practice Coordinator

JOB OVERVIEW:
The Practice Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of customer service and clerical functions associated with the physical therapy department and with Workers Compensation and No Fault patients and their care. In this capacity he or she shall provide oversight, analysis and planning of the department’s day-to-day operation while performing specific assigned tasks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Train and support all operations personnel with registration, scheduling and performing insurance eligibility verification for Physical Therapy patients and for patients receiving services or care associated with Workers Comp or No Fault injuries. This shall include assessing, and when necessary, obtaining all required preauthorization/certification for patient visits. Additionally responsible for scheduling appointments via telephone, in-person or other means.
- Obtain all patient case information, for workers compensation, no fault and similar insurance related claims.
- Serve as a liaison between the practice operations, billing departments and legal entities providing reports and treatment updates and perform any investigation of patient treatment history and other legal demands as required.
- Ensure timely delivery of all progress notes and treatment information to referring and third-party providers as necessary.
- Accurately maintain all patient treatment information and charts exclusive to the practice area.
- Complete all orthopedic network forms as required.
- Required to assist in the completion of various patient forms such as insurance claim, workers compensation, at the point of service etc.
- Perform other assigned duties related to his or her scope of responsibility as required or directed by the provider or administrative personnel.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Excellent communication, organization ability, time management and the ability to effectively prioritize work.
- Should be well adept to multi-tasking and be able to do so effectively.
- Ability to utilize various computer systems for scheduling, reporting and/or word processing. Minimal competency in using MS-Windows based programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service and demonstrated ability at effective problem resolution.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum of two (2) years clerical or service experience is required, preferably in a medical environment. Prior experience in a fast-paced, high customer volume work environment is highly desirable.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum requirement is a High School diploma or equivalency. Successful completion of a medical assistant training program or certificate, or two (2) years recent experience in the capacity of a medical assistant or related position is highly desirable, but might be required depending on the area to be assigned.
