JOB OVERVIEW:
The Medical Assistant is responsible for greeting
and registering all patients arriving for appointments, other services or care. In addition,
the Medical Assistant is responsible for,
or participate in, all front-office aspects of
their assigned physician(s) or area(s) which
shall include but not be limited to answering
telephones, medical records, filing, photocopying
and other
miscellaneous clerical work. Additionally,
he or she might perform screenings such as
height and weight measurements, vital signs
and other limited, but related clinical functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Greet and register all patients arriving
for appointments, other services or care.
Additionally responsible for scheduling appointments
via telephone, in-person or other
means.
2. Prepare, update and accountable for all
patient charts relative to appointments,
procedures, lab or other tests results, physician
encounters and referrals.
3. Prepare examination room and/or equipment
as necessary and/or instructed.
4. Escort or direct patients to examination
room and assist in preparing the patient for
treatment.
5. Assist in procedures that are appropriate
relative to the Company’s policy and/or
general
clinical operating standards as requested.
6. Ensure and maintain an adequate inventory
of all necessary supplies, including medical
equipment, forms and other inventory that
might be appropriate or required by the
physician.
7. Complete or assist in the completion of
session headers and encounter forms on a daily
basis. Additionally may be required to complete
or assist in the completion of various
patient forms such as insurance claim, workers
compensation, etc.
8. Administer physician’s front-office
operations, including answering telephone
calls,
coordinating and delivering messages and similar
clerical tasks.
9. Participate in other assigned duties as
required or directed by the physician or
administrative personnel. This may include,
but not be limited to height, weight, blood
pressure measurements and/or other similar
limited semi-clinical tasks.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
1. Good communication, organization ability,
time management and the ability to effectively
prioritize work.
2. Should be well adept to multi-tasking and
be able to do so effectively.
3. Ability to utilize various computer systems
for scheduling, reporting and/or word
processing. Minimal competency in using MS-Windows
based programs.
4. Excellent interpersonal skills, customer
service and demonstrated ability at effective
problem resolution.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
A minimum of two (2) years clerical or service
experience is required, preferably in a medical
environment. Prior experience in a fast-paced,
high customer volume work environment is highly
desirable.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum requirement is a High School diploma
or equivalency. Candidate must have completed a
medical assistant training program and have a certificate,
as well two (2) years recent experience in the
capacity of a medical assistant or related
position.
